Field-induced first-order magnetic phase transitions represent an important class of magnetic phenomena that, despite decades of investigation, remain incompletely understood. A central issue is the lack of knowledge on morphology of the emergent field-induced phases, which provides critical insight into magnetostriction, electronic and thermal transport properties, and the origin of magnetic hysteresis. In this light, the proposal aims to investigate the evolution of the magnetic domain structure in Dy3Co single crystals at field induced AFM-FM transition. This will be done in the framework of our MagIKX project “Magnetic domain Imaging using Kerr effect and XMCD” aiming on developing of new experimental setup at ID12 beamline. This novel dual-methodology will enable the concurrent observation of magnetic microstructure transformations on a scale of up to several square millimetres with additional information on element-specific magnetism with the local resolution better than 2 μm.
