Nanowires (NWs) that combine a semiconductor and a ferromagnet in a core-shell geometry gained attention as building blocks of spintronic and magnetic data storage devices, and constitute an excellent testbed for fundamental research on quantum phenomena in quasi-1D heterostructures. In the experiment MA-6712, we measured the Fe phonon density of phonon states (PDOS) of Fe-shell / GaAs-core nanowires (NWs). The results shows a clear difference of the Fe-PDOS from that of 2D Fe films with identical thicknesses on GaAs substrates and from bulk Fe. These results pose an intriguing and important question what is the impact of the NWs bending on the Fe-PDOS of this quasi 1D core/shell system. By asymmetric deposition of (In,Ga)As shell on the GaAs NWs they can be bended in a controllable fashion. A reverse bending is realized by a further deposition of a second asymmetric GaAs shell. Using this strategy, we aim at a a systematic study of the PDOS of Fe shell deposited on bended NWs.
